a bit of a card making frenzy...

I pretty much began my papercrafting life as a cardmaker...as a child i had a fascination with making pop-up cards {which holds true until today...but thats for another post ;) }...anyho...the last couple of weeks i seem to have gotten the cardmaking bug again...and just in time to make up some bundles for Christmas gifts too!

Because i've had it in mind to make lots of cards, i decided to play around with the same basic layout and see where it took me...making a batch of similar cards is always quicker...but you can change the colours and style to make them look dramatically different, with relatively little thinking {which is always a bonus for a bone-head like me!}


These blue cards are basically the same, embossed with white embossing powder {remember to use your anti-static bag!}, two messages by Hero Arts and a frame by Autumn Leaves. I've then layered die cut flowers in white, blue and silver and added a cordroy brad in the centre for some touchy feely texture. You'll notice on the top one, i've run the diecut flowers though an embossing folder to make them spotty...I love all things spotty at the moment :)



So they look fairly similar, huh? Well what about if you totally change the colour scheme and go a bit girly? Turn the card into a portrait version, add a scalloped circle and some Liquid pearls...et voila...a cute little girls card! Leave out the messages altogether...grunge up the edges, add a bit of ribbon and a touch of bling...and you have a card suitable for the rock chick in your life! lol

You don't have any rock chicks in your life? Your friends are all cute and girly? Well...change the colours to turquoise and orange and add lots of bling to bring a dainty dragonfly to life! These are some of my favourite stamps by Paper Artsy...aren't they great???

Finally, i've made a super special 18th Birthday card for my beautiful niece by bringing all these elements together...stamping a delicate border...adding the frame to the scalloped circle and adding a die cut flower to alternate scallops, along with either a black or a clear gemstone. This one looks much better in real life...i've never learned how to photograph holographic card effectively!! {hints welcome....}
