vintage cottage swap on UKS...

sometimes...when i fancy doing something a little bit differento to my usual crafty style...i look for a suitable swap to join in on UKS...this one was hosted by Smelly who sent us all a cottage template and challenged us to make vintage style art withing the shape.

i love how they are all different...and all i need now is a bookcase to display them on! ;)

many thanks to all who took part...Gail S, Lou, Sarah {aka Smelly},Karen and the un~named cottage creator too!

can you tell which one i made???

a little bit of cyber cropping...

i've not been up to much scrapping for the longest while now...so i thought i'd have a go at a couple of the classes in this weekend's Christmas scrappy cyber crop over on UKS....

this first class was by Angie:

...who could resist this super cute photo????

...or the chance of a political pun?

...not to mention the chance to use my new Martha Stewart border punch...it looks so pretty triple embossed :0)

This second class was by Linda...

...a good way to use up some of those mismatched letter stickers i have lurking around...and yes...i am truly cross~eyed in this photo!!! lol

if you fancy having a go at these...or any of the other classes or challenges on offer...pop over here!

12 days of Christmas swap...

its not a regular thing for me taking part in swaps...but over on UKS atm...i was tempted by the 12 days of Christmas swap...inspired by a project in Craft Stamper Magazine...designed by the fabulously talented Linda...

the idea is that 12 people make 12 thrinchies {3 inch squares} and decorate them, leaving the corners clear for attaching with jump rings...then when we swap...we end up with 12 different Christmas themed squares and it makes a lovely wall hanging for the festive season :0)

if you're wondering why i've made 9 turquoise and silver thrinchies...its because some of the people have requested specific colour schemes {including me!}

this red, green and gold is my chosen colourway...

this totally golden one was just for fun...

...and this black and gold colourway was chosen by another swapee...i hope she likes it!
the more observant of you will have noticed my absence and may like to know that i fell down a rather nasty poorly hole last week...but i'm doing much better this week...hope its a good one for you too...

see you over there!

we have winners!!

can you tell what it is yet??? expertly modelled by his Nibs...aka Mr. Tidypants...it is indeed a lampshade...and i bet nobody is more suprized than Darcy who guessed correctly!!

its not quite finished yet...as i ran out of thread...and i'm not sure when i can get out to get some more...so i can only show you the back...
***hint***
when stitching freehand like this, i always start at the back/part least likey to be seen...as i find my stitches are a bit uneven to start with, but sort themselves out once i get going! ;0)

i'm loving having a part of my skirt preserved forever...and plan to make lots of things with the rest of it...

...so why did i cut it up??? actually nobody guessed quite correctly...but Tea bag was closest with her first guess...of a stain...the real truth is...i decided to give the bathroom loo a quick spruce up 5 mins before some guests arrived...and in my hurry i splashed bleach on it...and didn't notice!!!
and the moral of this story is:
********always get someone else to do the dirty jobs!!! ;0) **********
so if Darcy and Tea bag would both be so kind as to leave me their addresses in the comments below or as a PM to agirlcalledbob on UKS...your goodies will swifty wing their way to you!
thanks for playing along...and when its actually finished...i'll share the lampshade in situ, rather than on hubby's head! lol

what the world needs now...is love, sweet love

well it is nearly Valentines' day...and the challenge on UKS this week required the use of lyrics from a love song {they are there at the bottom across the trunk of the tree}, a splash of red and some heart shaped embellishments *tick, tick, tick* so that is 30 more tasty points for the slave driving team leader ;0) *hope you're happy with my efforts sue!!* xxx

love this paper, its Fancy Pants...as so many of my favourites are...and i've added almost every type and style of embellishment...i have never been a less is more kind of girl...but you should have seen Rosie's face watching me stick all those mismatched items down the right hand side...i thought she might pass out at one point...but she didn't say a word...not like her at all lol *love you, hon...xxx*
i've used a tim holtz metal flower to which i added a turquoise pearl gem, and one of his book plates which i've added mini letter stickers to, a birdie rubon by Glitz design {although i had to cut his legs off, poor thing cos they were realllllllly long!!}, i've also layered more Fancy Pants pp {the heart on the green background}, and over that a love sticker...to which i've added a turquoise gem, the chip sticker with the butterfly i added a body in pink gems...to the yummy tree sticker i added more turquoise gems...and to the title i added more pink ones! gone slightly gem~tastic actually on this one...almost all the flowers on the paper have gems in the middle...and i picked all the beads off the felt border and replaced them with gems too!!
hope you're having a sparkly day too xxx

they might be a bunch of loonies...

but they are *my* bunch of loonies...and i wouldn't swap a one of them!

this is my LO for Scrapdolly aka Karen's 5th prompt to scrap your family...this is my husband...my sister and my BIL...my top 3 favourite people in the whole world...{equal third that is with my mum...my granny...various aunties...and quite a few friends!!! } but these are the ones that make me feel at home...that let me be me...and don't seem in the least bit fazed when i'm having an *off* day...love you guys! xxx

the details are...a gorgeous rubon which i think was Rhonna Farrer...and i've layered 2 layers of glossy accents over the top of the letters for prominence...a chipboard *f* which i've inked, stamped with a tim holtz stamp and then also double glossied {there i go again making up my own words!} i didn't have an inkpad in the colour i wanted...so i inked in blue and stamped in black to give a sort of navy blue effect...quite pleased with myself for thinking of that! ;0)
i don't know if anyone has spotted this...but i decided to make this album all *quick* pages...and entirely from scraps of stash...no new pieces of cardstock or pp for me in this album! lol i'm generally a super slow scrapper and i think i often spend too much time wanting it to be *just right*...i'm trying to let go of that in these pages and be a lot more spontaneous and use what is to hand...the pages are a bit *scruffier* for it...but so far i'm liking them...what do you think? i'd love to hear if anyone had noticed a difference!!!

February 04, 2010

will you marry me? {a LO not a proposal!}

indeed i would...and did...and i have to say i love this man more and more everyday...he is currently in the kitchen stuffing me a pepper and beating some chicken into submission...but a man needs an aggressive outlet when he has to put up with me everyday!! lol

i've completed this LO {finally} in response to this week's challenge on UKS...which required the use of bling *tick*...pink *tick*...and old stash *tick*...so i'm claiming full points for my team...which should make the team leader happy!

i've used bling over the top of a rubon butterfly to accentuate the body and add a little more pink...as if that pp wasn't pink enough already! i love adding to embellishments...its just another way to make them *mine*...i've also added pink gems to the centres of the flowers and outlined them in black to make them *pop* off the page...

i've used a black pen to fill in the scroll work to make it more prominent...and added prima flowers with red buttons and pink gems to their centres...don't be afraid to mix red and pink...the effect can be really cool and striking...or quite subtle...just keep the intensity of the colours similar...and there you have it!

and this is my favourite part of the page {apart from the photo of course!}...i've layered rubons over the pp, added a chipboard button which i've inked around the edges...attached a red heart shape...and topped all that off with a rubon flower and another pink gem!
****hint****
when adding rubons to surfaces like this which are not flat...i like to rub on the flat section first and use my fingers to smooth the rest of the image around the sides...it takes a bit of practice...but its easy when you know how!
ok...so i'm 3 years late with this LO...but better late than never, eh? you never know...i might even get around to doing the wedding album as some point!! lol
thanks for stopping by...love to hear your comments as usual...and have a great day!

when good pages...go bad!!

my attempt at this week's challenge over on UKS...well i had to have a go really being as my new teamies set it! :)
as so often happens...i had a great plan {at least in my head i did}...drew my sketch...and then i cut the heart paper sloping in the wrong direction *bummer*...i decided to carry on...and thought i could rescue the situation by adapting to the slant going the other way...but i just can't! lol i need a slope to go from lower left to upper right...it just doesn't feel right this way round!!

on the plus side...hubby loves it! *men!!!!!* ;) and i do love the photos...so its all a good learning curve, right?

now...have you done yours yet? please do play along...and leave me a link to let me come see what you've made of it...

hugs
:o)

*phew....

i've been cybercropping over at UKS most of the weekend...and I'm really pleased with what I've managed this time. Pictures to come...maybe in the morning...certainly later this week...

if you haven't seen what's been going on...do go and check out the classes, some of them were just beautiful! Well done and thankyou to all who worked so hard making it happen.

*tired, but happy*
:)

swap a doodle dandy!

I don't often do this, but I've joined a swap over on UKS...and this one is a bookmark swap. It inspired me to have a play with the leather swatches I got from e-bay:

This is only the top half of the bookmark, just in case the swapee is looking...I want there to still be an element of suprize!! ha haa I put the orange leather through the Big Shot and although it was hard work turning the handle, it cut out a dream. The rest I cut with my sewing scissors! I've also used a We R Memory Keepers grommet as the flower centre, I love these cuties!! :)

Welcome UKScrappers!!

It would appear that we have a wee link on the UKScrappers' home page today...so helloooooo all of you who come to be passing that way! I'm super happy to have you here...and I hope you find something you like!

UKS is one of my favourite places to hang out...although i'm not a huge *chatter*, but it has lots of hints, ideas, friendly people to chat to...shopping and of course...more shopping! {Those of you that don't know it...the link is in the list on the right :) }
For anyone who doesn't know me, this is me, the morning after my wedding, in the pool with a glass of pink fizz...and being followed around strangely by several teapots full of sweetpeas!! They just seemed to keep being there the whole wedding weekend...where ever i was, they were!!! *spooky* ;)

And here is one of the polaroids that our Ushers took...they look so timeless polaroid photos...i just love 'em :) Mum and Lesley are of course, timeless too...
