do you make your own ribbon flowers?

i love to do this...its a great way to personalize you projects and use up scraps of ribbon...and i got into a chat with a teamie who asked me how i made mine...so here are a few of my favourite ideas :0) i hope you like them...

this one is simply a length of ribbon with running stitch all along one edge...gather the ribbon by pulling both ends of the thread when you reach the end and sew it all together with a button in the middle.
this one uses 8 ribbon scraps folded and glued to the back of a chipboard circle and is just like the bows we used to use at Christmas...its a bit big for most scrapbook pages...but it looks lovely on a box or can be ironed flatter :)

i think this one is really cute and its super quick, again using scraps...i lied them all out and use a pokey tool to make a hole right through the middle then place a chipboard shape on the top and push a brad all the way through to secure it...you can use however many petals you like depending upon the width of your ribbon...i really like the edges cut with pinking shears...it stops them fraying...and looks cute!

here is the same flower, layered up over a chipboard shape that has been covered in ribbon strips...

and this is my all-time-favourite-flower...its simply a bundle of ribbons, wounds around my fingers and secured in the middle with a brad...i've used toning ribbons from my scrap jar for this one and i really think it looks best when you use a mixture of ribbon types and widths...once you've secured the brad...arrange the petals as you choose!

i hope that gives you a few ideas for using up your ribbon stash...and especially those short lenghts that often seem to be left over at the end of a project...and if you have any good ideas for more of these flowers...leave me a link and i'll come see what you've been doing!
happy day
:)

Thank you for this - I agree I love the bottom one best but they are all pretty. I didn't realise those Christmas ones were so easy to make. I'll definitely be having a go :D
